BIDEGAIN, Mendiburu: Volume, Trame, Forme, Ciboure, Arte Bideak, reproduced on p. 26. The 1980s marked a period of prolific exhibition activity for the artist, particularly in the United States. Along with other artists, including Basterretxea, he exhibited several works in Chicago and Reno with the aim of promoting Basque art across the Atlantic. Our work "Eaux et Terres" symbolizes this period. In addition, the artist exhibited in 1984 at the Kezka Gallery in Hondarribia. This exhibition held particular significance for the artist, who published a text at the time that served as a catharsis for the traumas he experienced during the Civil War and the Dictatorship. Forced exile and repression were images that could be washed away by water and a return to his homeland.
