Basterretxea’s “Disc-shaped Steles” series aims to establish a dialogue between tradition and modernity. An icon steeped in history, this series, thanks to the work of its creator, shifts from an expiatory dimension to an ostentatious one. Our stone version is part of a series of three sculptures created in wood, stone, and bronze. The wooden version is currently housed at the Basque Museum in Bayonne.
