Paris, circa 1773 Silver HAND CANDLEBUCKET, scalloped saucer chased and engraved with a frieze of stylized oves and shells, the amati-backed grip ending in a medallion framed with acanthus leaves engraved B. Master-smith: Alexis Micalef, received master in 1756. Length: 20.5 cm; Gross weight: 250 g Goldsmith in Paris, Alexis Micalef moved to Lyon in 1773, before being withdrawn again on December 3, 1774. He then left for the provinces. Our candlestick, marked with the goldsmith's hallmark, lacks the guarantee hallmarks, suggesting that it was made when he left Paris.
