Alberto ARRUE (1878-1944) - Lot 343
Alberto ARRUE (1878-1944) Busy quays in Ondarroa (?) Pastel signed lower right 48 x 63 cm This large pastel is richly animated with figures. The boats, barques and sailboats returning from fishing attract sailors and fish sellers swarming the quayside. The foreground gaze of the sailor, standing proudly on his two legs and wearing the red shirt typical of Basque sailors, fully invests the viewer in the scene.
