Our expert classifies stones modified by “traditional gem-cutting practices” in the same way as those that have not been modified. (Art. 3)
Our expert designates stones modified by other processes either by the stone’s name followed by the term “treated” or by specifying the treatment applied. (Art. 2). Stones not accompanied by certificates or laboratory reports have been appraised by the expert, taking into account any modifications described in paragraph a).
Our expert, Louise TEISSEIRE, is available to buyers for any additional information regarding Decree 2002-65 or the various types of treatments that exist. Identification techniques and analytical conclusions regarding the origin and classification of gemstones and pearls may vary from one laboratory to another. Consequently, it is possible in some cases to obtain different results depending on the laboratories consulted.
